New dermal fillers Juvederm Volbella® and Vollure®

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural sugar found in the body that hydrates and plumps the skin. As we age, our ability to produce HA slows down causing deep skin structures to weaken, and wrinkles and lines to appear. Returning HA to the skin improves skin quality and helps create a more youthful appearance.

Hyaluronic acid fillers are popular because they stimulate collagen production, provide superior cosmetic results and have an excellent safety profile. And, if you don’t like the results, HA fillers are reversible too!

Belotero Balance® is an HA filler that was approved in 2011 to smooth facial wrinkles and folds. Belotero is a very soft, lightweight HA, but because of these properties, it typically lasts for only about 6 months. Belotero also isn’t pre-mixed with anesthetic, so injections can be more uncomfortable.

Designer Facial Fillers

Today’s newer fillers are often referred to as designer facial fillers, because they are designed to target specific trouble spot areas of the face. The new Juvederm products, Vollure® and Volbella®, use a special cross- linked technology that offers unique advantages, including soft, flexible consistencies that make them excellent choices for natural looking rejuvenation. These new fillers have been added to our filler arsenal to give you another option for achieving your best look yet.

Juvederm Vollure XC® with lidocaine, was approved in 2017, and is the first and only HA filler approved by the FDA for correction of moderate to severe wrinkles and folds. Vollure contains larger HA particles than many traditional juvederm and belotero products to correct deep smile lines (nasolabial folds), marionette lines and other age-related wrinkles on the cheeks, jawline, chin and lips.

Vollure is an ultra-smooth gel of medium consistency that lifts sunken skin to firm mild sagging, stimulate collagen production, and restore smoothness, while allowing the skin to retain its flexibility.

Vollure is perfect for correction of age lines and wrinkles in the mid and lower face. By plumping and hydrating the skin, it lifts and smooths, giving the skin a dewy, youthful appearance. Vollure can last up to 18 months, a full year or longer than many other HA injectables on the market.

Juvederm Volbella XC® with lidocaine, approved in 2016, is used to define the lips and correct fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth. Due to its smaller HA particle size, it is thin and easily spreadable to correct wrinkles on the skin’s surface, smoker’s lines, and lipstick lines on and above the upper lip. It is excellent for subtle lip augmentation without the worry of puffy or bulky lips. Volbella is the only lip filler that can last up to a year.

Volbella is also excellent to fill under eye hollows. Under eye hollows make you look tired, even if you aren’t. Filling them can give a very refreshed look. When used to fill under eye hollows, results can last up to 2 years. This delicate area is difficult to treat, and requires significant experience, and meticulous skill, which is why it is essential to choose the expert injectors at Moy, Fincher, & Chipps. We often combine Volbella injections with fractionated CO2 laser resurfacing for improved eyelid tightness.
