A 56-year-old native Angelino wished for overall facial skin improvement. Over the past several years, she had developed more wrinkles, especially around her eyes and mouth as well as scattered sunspots. In addition, she had had multiple prior skin cancers, including those on the face. After a dermatologic cosmetic consultation, we recommended fractionated CO2 laser resurfacing to smooth lines, even skin tone, and fade unwanted discoloration. In addition, because the CO2 laser vaporizes damage and penetrates to a level in the skin where skin cancers arise, this treatment can also help prevent future skin cancers. The CO2 laser works by creating micro-wounds in the skin, which stimulates a healing response resulting in new collagen synthesis and tighter, smoother, healthier skin. At almost 3 months post-treatment, she is thrilled by her improved wrinkles, diminished sunspots, and overall healthier skin.
