A 83-year-old fisherman presented with a bleeding crusted growth on his right hand. A skin biopsy revealed squamous cell carcinoma skin cancer, which was successfully treated with Mohs micrographic surgery. Because all of the margins were examined, the cancer was completely removed in one shallow layer. This was allowed to heal naturally without stitches, and 6 weeks after his surgery, he has healed well. To help prevent additional skin cancers, he is taking 500mg of the vitamin nicotinamide twice per day. Ask one of the physicians at Moy-Fincher-Chipps more about our comprehensive approach to prevent skin cancers using topical DNA repair enzymes, vitamins, and laser treatments.
