Remembering Dr. Ron Moy (1957-2025)
Dr. Ronald Moy founded Moy Fincher Chipps in 1992 and was renowned as one of the world’s leading cosmetic and facial plastics surgeons. Dr. Moy trained all the physicians in this practice (Drs. Fincher, Chipps and Lauren Moy) in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and in Cosmetic Surgery through an American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship.
Dr. Moy’s impressive credentials included past president and diplomate of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society of Dermatologic Surgeons, and American Board of Facial Cosmetic Surgery. He was also a member of the American College of Mohs Surgery, American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and American Board of Facial Cosmetic Surgery, and published more than 200 scholarly articles. Dr. Moy received the prestigious Samuel J. Stegman, MD Award for Distinguished Service for his remarkable contributions to the field of dermatologic surgery.
He specialized in cosmetic and facial plastic surgery, face lifts, liposuction, laser skin resurfacing, eye lifts, and Mohs Micrographic Surgery. He had performed over 30,000 cases of Mohs Micrographic Surgery and facial plastic surgery over the past 25+ years of clinical practice. Dr. Moy’s medical background and accomplishments included completion of his dermatology residency training at UCLA. Dr. Moy then completed his Facial Cosmetic and Mohs Micrographic Surgery Fellowship training at the University of Pittsburgh Center for Health Services.
He was a professor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, was a former Co-Chief of the UCLA division of Dermatology, and a former Chief of Dermatologic Surgery. He served on the Editorial Board of the Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery, was a former president of Los Angeles County Medical Association, Bay District and was the past Editor-in-Chief of the Dermatologic Surgery Journal. He served on the Editorial Board of Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery and Aesthetic Surgery. Due to Dr. Moy’s love for teaching, he trained over 20 fellows in Mohs Micrographic and Cosmetic Surgery and mentored 250+ healthcare workers in dermatology. Because of his generous spirit, he also volunteered his dermatologic services at the Venice Family Clinic for over 25 years.
Dr. Moy was also a published author of more than 200 articles on cosmetic and dermatologic surgery and treatments and was a renowned international lecturer on advancing cosmetic surgery technologies.

Dr. Moy had a deep love for his family, grandsons, tennis, golf, and the Los Angeles Lakers.
A memorial fund has been created in honor of Dr. Ronald Moy at the Venice Family Clinic.
